Arts Club
We use creativity to support sustainable ways of producing art, stimulating essential development skills
Etiv Arts Club's purpose is to provide children from the low-income communities of Itacaré with a unique and fun opportunity to stimulate fundamental skills important to their learning process, such as: creativity, motor and social skills, decision-making, problem-solving, self-expression, confidence, communication and many others. At Etiv, culture is highly valued, therefore the club also aims to provide a safe and respectful space where all cultures meet, just like the city of Itacaré and its multicultural environment.
The Arts Club includes seven essential forms of arts, these are: Painting, Dance, Theater, Music, Sculpture, Literature and Cinema. In order to support the development of children and young people by promoting environmental conservation, the activities often reutilize natural elements and waste products, transforming them into production materials, accessories, tools and many other creative outputs, so that children can explore their creativity, learn and have fun while contributing to sustainable development. Because the Arts Club englobes so many activities, children have specific lectures and timetables focusing into the distinct practices:
Lit Club
- The reading and literature club is a weekly program in the learning space where children have contact with different books. Each week, a new book is chosen and different activities are suggested. To encourage reading, regular club students can also take home a book of the award-winning Etiv library. With around 500 books in different languages our library was awarded the Brazilian national prize for recognizing community libraries in 2023 - O Prêmio Pontos de Leitura 2023
Fine arts
- In fine arts classes, children can explore creativity, culture and practical skills to develop a product using sustainable tools. The main goal here is to raise environmental awareness by teaching the importance of the three Rs: (R) eutilize, (R)ecycling and (R)educing.
Performing arts
- Another way to educate by exploring culture and creativity, while raising awareness about the importance of sustainability, is through the dance, theater and music classes. Each of these takes place at specific times on our activities board, and can vary every four months. In dance classes, for example, children can learn ballet and then hip hop, while in music classes they can learn how to play the guitar and later the flute.
Cine Club and Brinquedoteca
- We strongly believe in education as an essential tool for transformation and sustainable community development. With this in mind, movie nights are offered every Friday, in which specific films are chosen with learning messages about environmental education and self-development. In addition, the children have a weekly slot to play and have fun with different toys and games exploring their different skills.
